Cool Zep Album Cover

When our kids where super young, all three of them under the age of 7! (Ha ha), everyone started hassling me, to bring a dog into the family too ðŸ˜Š

Along came ‘Cool Zep’ one fateful afternoon out the front of our house, he was dodging cars on our busy street at peak hour. I had seen him out the window the day before too and now he was back again!

Then the missus drove into the garage with the kids in the car, and Zep followed them in, greeting them as they got out. He chose our family and made himself right at home. Our youngest daughter immediately named him ‘Pom Pom’ BUT no way that was happening! Ha ha, I’d always wanted a dog like him and had been saving the name ‘Zeppelin’ for years!

We couldn’t get in touch with his owners, so we contacted the local vet, who already knew him VERY well by that stage. They said he’d been turning up regularly, via various community members in recent times. The vet also told us they couldn’t believe he hadn’t been hit by a car yet and was still alive …

We soon met his owners, apparently their circumstances had recently changed and Zep (not his name at the time) was living in a small unit. He kept escaping, and spent his days along the local beaches and bushland etc. We offered for him to come and live with us, and they were excited for this, so it was decided upon, and Zep soon became an integral part of our family’s story!

Yes, he is a ‘bitzer’ (bit of this and a bit of that) and has red cattle dog in him. Meaning he had historical Dingo ancestry, which was obvious, by the way he handled himself. In our backyard he would ‘bounce off’ trees and launch at fences, always trying to go on his next adventure. On the second day he lived with us, he caught a feral rabbit that had been getting into our yard. Zep ate it, in front of the kids, and they were like ‘ohhh best dog ever!!!’ (Australia has a massive invasive species rabbit problem, estimated to be over 200 million at present)…

When we’d take Zep out on walks, we discovered he was familiar to the local community, they’re like ‘I’ve seen your dog before’. Seriously the coolest dude!

Anyway, the rest of the details are in the song, so check it out if you’d like to. We had Zep for an amazing 6 years and we still love him so much!!!

Got the Dingo in you brah!
